Small Flock Shearing

I offer small flock shearing services (under 20 sheep, no camelids) in the Whatcom and Skagit area; please fill out the form below to request a shearing date and I will be in touch. If I am not the right fit or do not have capacity, I am happy to direct you to any number of the other excellent shearers that work in our area. Available for spring and fall shearing and crutching/dagging.

Farm Visit: $100

Ewes/lambs/wethers: $8-10/head

Hoofs: $5/head

Rams: Double ewe price

Additional fees apply for more than one year of wool growth. If I arrive and the sheep are not dry and penned, I will have to charge my farm visit fee and reschedule for animal and shearer safety.

Variable per head rate depends on breed/condition/size/temperment

Shearing Day Expectations

Sheep must be completely dry to shear; they should be brought in under cover for fleeces to completely dry well ahead of shearing day.

Sheep must be kept off feed (including pasture) and water for at least 12 hours before shearing; shearing with a full rumen is uncomfortable for the animal and unsafe for the shearer. More here.

In an ideal set-up, I shear inside your barn/shop but in field is possible; please indicate your setup in the message section below.

Please provide a wood floor or a 4’ x 6’ piece of plywood. For biosecurity reasons, I prefer each farm provide their own plywood—let me know if this isn’t possible so I can bring my own.
